Frequently Asked Questions
Will I save money?
- Yes
- Simply notify your community solar program. There is no fee to cancel, though they do ask for a 90 day notice so they can replace your spot on the farm.
- Of course you can! Keep in mind that the discount is applied to the default rate which may vary from the rate of your supplier charges.
- Unless you live in NY, VA, or IL you will still receive a utility bill. Your utility bill will be reduced by the credits you received and will be minimal. Then you will receive a bill from the community solar company for those credits at your discounted rate. Credit card and ACH auto-payment options make the transaction seamless.
- Demand to join a community solar program is very high. In DUAL billed markets, solar developers want to ensure that the farm is filled with quality subscribers. A soft credit inquiry is performed - this is "below the line" and does not impact your credit score.
- You are still connected to the grid, so no matter what happens "on the farm", you are powered up. Did you know that even on cloudy or rainy days, solar farms operate at ~75 capacity.

Solar Land Lease Deals
Partner Energy Group facilitates solar land lease deals between landowners and solar developers. There are many factors in determining land value. A property evaluation that considers location, topography, local utility and other factors is required to fully assess opportunities.
Community Solar farms are sized for 5-10 acre parcels. Utility-scale solar developers look for properties with 30+ acres. Generally, every 2 acres of a solar farm generates 1MW of capacity. Not all of the land can be used for installing solar panels. Some communities require a buffer zone and areas many need to be set aside for operations. In addition, other exclusions factor into "buildable acreage". Topography, waterways, and wetlands are just some of the exclusions. Clearing the land of trees and other obstacles is a cost consideration when valuing a parcel.
Ideally, the land is within 1,000 feet of Three Phase Power with easy road access. Utility interconnect fees are higher the further away your land is from the electrical grid. Having a substation within 3 miles is preferred.
